Olympiacos are revisiting a move for former Manchester United winger and free agent Adnan Januzaj to bolster their wing depth as injury concerns and lack of impact plague current options.
The Greek club has struggled to find consistent production on the flanks this season. Several wide players have dealt with fitness issues, while others have failed to deliver the creativity and end product the team needs in both domestic and European competition. That combination has pushed the club back toward a player they have monitored before.
Januzaj, 29, is available on a free transfer after his contract situation left him without a club. The Belgian international came through the Manchester United academy and was once viewed as one of the most promising young attackers in England. He made his breakthrough under David Moyes and later had loan spells with Borussia Dortmund and Sunderland before a permanent move to Real Sociedad.
His time in Spain showed flashes of quality, particularly in La Liga where he produced important goals and assists. A stint with Sevilla followed, but minutes became harder to find. Now without a team, he represents a low risk option for Olympiacos, who would not need to pay a transfer fee.
The main questions center on his fitness and sharpness after months without competitive football. Olympiacos officials believe his technical ability and experience in top European leagues could still add value, especially if he can regain match rhythm quickly.
Negotiations are expected to focus on contract length and salary terms. If completed, the deal would give the club another option on the wing as they push for silverware on multiple fronts.
