Caleb Durbin crushed a tiebreaking home run over the Green Monster with two outs in the eighth inning, lifting the Boston Red Sox to a 6-5 win over Baltimore. The victory extended Boston's winning streak to 14 games, the second-longest in franchise history, while snapping the Orioles' season-best run at seven straight.
The game was a back-and-forth battle from the start. Baltimore jumped ahead early, but Boston chipped away and tied it in the fifth. The Orioles regained the lead in the seventh, only for the Red Sox to answer again. Then came Durbin's blast, a solo shot that barely cleared the left-field wall and sent the home crowd into a frenzy.
Boston's bullpen held firm after that, retiring the side in order in the ninth to seal the win. The Red Sox have not lost since April 12, and their current surge has pushed them firmly into first place in the division. For Baltimore, the loss snaps a hot streak but does little to dim what has been a strong month overall.
The two teams meet again tomorrow, with Boston looking to make it 15 in a row.
