The fifth week of Louisiana high school football kicked off with a slate of Thursday night matchups that delivered plenty of scoring and a few surprising outcomes. Haughton put together a dominant offensive performance against Parkway, rolling to a 55-36 victory. The Buccaneers controlled the pace from the opening quarter and never let the Panthers mount a serious comeback.
Bossier also came away with a convincing win, defeating Southwood 34-12. The Bearkats leaned on a balanced attack to pull away in the second half and secure the district victory.
In another high scoring affair, Ringgold overwhelmed Northwood Lena by a final score of 50-28. The Redskins found the end zone early and often, building a lead that proved too much for Northwood Lena to overcome.
West Point from Mississippi traveled to face Ruston and fell by a score of 29-2. The Bearcats defense was stifling all night, limiting West Point to just a safety while the offense did enough to put the game out of reach.
Haynesville continued its strong season with a 48-27 win over Union Parish. The Golden Tornado offense was clicking throughout the contest, and the defense made key stops when it mattered most to keep Union Parish at a distance.
These Thursday results set the stage for the rest of the Week 5 schedule across the state, with several key district battles still ahead on Friday night.
