Dolphins sign UFL S Major Burns

Dolphins sign UFL S Major Burns

The Miami Dolphins have signed safety Major Burns, bringing in a defensive back who made a strong impression during his time in the United Football League. Burns, who previously played for the UFL's Michigan Panthers, was one of the league's more active defenders this past season.

Burns entered the professional ranks after a college career at LSU, where he appeared in 37 games and recorded 101 tackles, two sacks, and an interception. His performance in the UFL caught the attention of NFL scouts, particularly his ability to play both deep safety and closer to the line of scrimmage. At 6 feet 1 inch and 205 pounds, he offers a blend of size and range that fits well in a modern defensive scheme.

The Dolphins have been looking to add depth to their secondary, especially after some roster turnover in the offseason. Burns will likely compete for a spot on the 53-man roster during training camp. He joins a group that includes veteran safeties Jevon Holland and Jordan Poyer, but the team values versatility and special teams contributions from its backups.

For Burns, this is a chance to prove he belongs at the NFL level after taking the UFL route. The signing is a low-risk move for Miami, with potential upside if Burns can carry his spring league success into the fall.
